ABOUT SURIGAO DEL SUR

Surigao del Sur is naturally advantaged. It is located in the northeastern coast of Mindanao facing the Pacific Ocean. It is approximately 300 kilometers in the length and 50 kilometers at its widest stretch.

It is bounded on the Northwest by the Province of Surigao del Norte; on the Southeast by Davao Oriental; on the East by the Pacific Ocean; and on the West and Southwest by the provinces of Agusan del Norte and Agusan del Sur. The Diwata Mountain Range lines the northwestern boundaries of the province.

Surigao del sur is a province of the infant CARAGA REGION.

The crafting of the Provincial Cultural Plan & the Provincial Tourism Code has come to an end. These will now be indorsed to the Provincial Governor and the Provincial Development Council for review and lastly to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for its adoption and approval. Congratulations to all the Tourism Officers of the different LGUs of Surigao del Sur, other government line agencies, tourism stakeholders, Ma'am Esther "Ayette Guno", PTC Officers and of course the SURSUR Provincial Tourism Office for a job well done.

A TRADITIONAL BEADWORKS TRAINING

These traditional beadwork outputs handcrafted by the identified IP communities of Surigao del Sur are often called "Panuhugtuhug". The style exemplifies the uniqueness and identify of the indigenous people.

This training aims to provide livelihood support and at the same time to preserved the culture of the Manobo IP Community of the Province.
